Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar and Provincial Minister for Law Punjab Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan have expressed unwavering solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Kashmir Black Day, observed annually on October 27.
Both ministers stated that October 27, 1947, marks one of the darkest days in history when India illegally and forcibly occupied the State of Jammu and Kashmir, in blatant violation of international law, human rights, and the principles of the partition of the subcontinent. They emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have never accepted this illegal occupation and continue to render unmatched sacrifices in their just and legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination.
The ministers said that the people and government of Pakistan observe October 27 as Black Day every year to remind the world that India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir was a clear violation of United Nations resolutions and international norms. They reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan, and that the nation will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri people in their quest for freedom.
They further stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial government stands in complete solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Across Punjab, rallies, seminars, and awareness events are being organized under the theme of “Kashmir Solidarity” to educate the younger generation about the sacrifices and struggle of the Kashmiri people for their fundamental rights and independence.
Both ministers urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to fulfill its responsibility by ensuring the implementation of its resolutions so that the Kashmiri people may be granted their inalienable right to self-determination.
They reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to raise the voice of the Kashmiri people at every international forum and will always stand by them in their just struggle for justice and freedom.
