Under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, 12-day Christmas celebrations are being held across the province with great enthusiasm, reflecting the Government of Punjab’s strong commitment to interfaith harmony, inclusion and respect for minority communities. As part of these celebrations, a grand and spiritually uplifting Christmas ceremony was organized at FGA Ground, Lahore.
Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. The event was organized under the auspices of Senior Pastor Anwar Fazal and was attended by government officials, religious leaders, community elders and a large number of members of the Christian community.
The ceremony commenced with a solemn carol service, during which participants lit candles symbolizing peace, hope and unity. The venue resonated with hymns, joyful songs and Christmas carols, beautifully reflecting the true spirit of the holy festival. Special skits conveying messages of peace, love, sacrifice and harmony were also presented and warmly appreciated by the audience.
Addressing the gathering, Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora extended heartfelt Christmas greetings to the Christian community and praised the inclusive vision and minority-friendly policies of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. He stated that under the present government, the budget of the Minority Affairs Department has been increased by 300 percent, marking a historic step towards the welfare and empowerment of minority communities.
He further highlighted that, for the first time in Pakistan’s history, minority students are appearing in CSS examinations, reflecting equal opportunities and growing confidence. The Minister also announced the continuation and expansion of scholarship programs for minority students to support their access to higher education.
The Provincial Minister emphasized that, for the first time in Punjab’s history, the Government of Punjab is officially observing Christmas celebrations for 12 consecutive days, sending a clear message of religious harmony, respect and social inclusion.
In his address, Senior Pastor Anwar Fazal thanked the Government of Punjab for officially recognizing and celebrating Christmas. He described Christmas as a message of love, sacrifice and peace, and offered special prayers for the prosperity, stability and peace of Pakistan, as well as for national unity and the success of state institutions.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora cut the Christmas cake along with members of the Christian community, sharing the joy of the festive occasion.
Prominent attendees included Senior Pastor Anwar Fazal, Bishop Nadeem Kamran, Emanuel Ather MPA, Ms. Kashmala Farwa (ASP), Pastor Shaukat Fazal, Bishop Izaac, Mr. Akbar Alam, Waseem Raja, Kashif Sajan, Saleem Shakim, Shahbaz Sahora and Mr. Saleem Rehmat.
