Federal Ombudsman Naveed Kamran Baloch directed the officers of his institution to make public service their guiding principle and leave no stone unturned in resolving people’s issues. He stated that serving the public is not only the duty of government employees but also an act of worship.
According to the spokesperson of the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat, Talat Iqbal, the Federal Ombudsman instructed officers to ensure implementation of his directives and decisions so that complainants could receive timely relief.
The Federal Ombudsman expressed these views yesterday during his visit to the regional office in Peshawar, where he chaired a meeting with officers from the regional offices of Peshawar, Swat, and Abbottabad.
During his visit, the Federal Ombudsman also met with Provincial Ombudsman Mazhar Zeb. The meeting focused on public grievance redressal, institutional cooperation, and measures to further improve access to justice.
Addressing the officers, Naveed Kamran Baloch said that the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat serves as a “court for the poor,” and the institution’s mission is to provide relief to underprivileged and marginalized communities. He added that the institution is committed to addressing complaints of maladministration against more than 600 federal government departments and agencies.
He urged government officers to utilize all available resources and efforts for the resolution of public complaints.
The Federal Ombudsman also directed officials to expedite measures for identifying suitable land for the construction of the regional office in Peshawar.
While emphasizing the need to make the Informal Resolution of Disputes (IRD) Program more practical and effective, he said that the program is being restructured to provide maximum relief to the public under the IRD initiative.
The meeting also included a detailed briefing to the Federal Ombudsman regarding the performance of the regional offices.
