Amritsar, July 17
Chamber of Commerce (WSCC) paid a special visit to Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, where he was honoured with a Siropa (robe of honour), Sri Sahib (ceremonial sword), and a garland of flowers.
The delegation comprised over 30 WSCC members from ten different states across India. During the occasion, Bhai Tek Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, was also honoured with a Siropa and floral garland.
During the meeting, the delegation submitted several key suggestions related to Panthic and national concerns. These included uniting Sikh power in a meaningful way for the welfare of the nation and underprivileged communities, commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in a grand manner, and the formation of an independent Sikh Education Board.
WSCC President Sardar Parmit Singh praised the impactful leadership of Jathedar Gargajj and stated that this meeting marked a historic moment for fostering collective Sikh empowerment and progressive unity. He assured full cooperation for future joint initiatives.
Jathedar Gargajj emphasized the importance of Sikhs becoming economically strong while also remaining rooted in the values and principles of Guru Sahib. He cited the example of Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara, who sacrificed his home in service of the Guru, and urged Sikhs to embody both wealth and selfless spirit.
He also observed that a few delegation members were not wearing the traditional Sarbloh Kara (iron bracelet). Jathedar Gargajj personally arranged the Kara and ensured the members wore them, encouraging them to adopt the full Sikh identity (Panj Kakaar) and live in accordance with Amritdhari Sikh values. He expressed satisfaction that all members were Sabat Soorat (unshorn and in full Sikh form) and motivated them to elevate the Sikh identity on a global stage.
On this occasion, the President of the Punjab Chapter, S. Rajinder Singh; Chairman of the Chandigarh Chapter, Amarinder Singh; Co-President of the Chandigarh Chapter, Manmeet Singh; Chairman of the Haryana Chapter, Harpreet Singh; Avtar Singh from Canada; President of the Jassa Singh Ahluwalia Federation, Harpal Singh; Rupinder Singh; Architect Jasbir Singh; Jatinder Singh; Parminder Singh; Amarjeet Singh; Advocate Paramjit Singh; Sukhwinder Singh, and others were present.
