Procession Cancelled, Entire Budget to be Spent on Relief Material – Advocate Naeem Khan
Jalandhar, (Mazhar)
The devastating floods in Punjab have displaced thousands of families and caused massive suffering. At this critical time, the Muslim community has set an example of humanity by taking a historic and praiseworthy decision.
This year, on September 5, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (Eid Milad-un-Nabi) will not be marked with a procession. Instead, the Muslim community has announced that the entire expenditure of the procession and related celebrations will be diverted to help flood-affected families through relief and essential supplies.
The collective decision was taken by the Eidgah Sunni Shahi Jama Masjid Committee.
Speaking at a press conference at Eidgah, Advocate Naeem Khan, President of the Committee, said:
“In today’s times, the real worship is to help flood victims. The teachings of the Prophet also guide us that serving humanity is the greatest virtue. Therefore, this year, instead of celebrations, we will share the pain of families devastated by floods.”
He emphasized that while festivals usually involve grand processions, this year the Muslim community of Punjab has shown that the true spirit of any festival lies in service and compassion. “Real Eid Milad will only be meaningful when we can bring smiles to the faces of the needy,” he added.
Other religious and community leaders also welcomed this decision, calling it a message of brotherhood and humanity for society.
Advocate Naeem Khan further said this initiative carries a positive message not just for Punjab but for the whole nation – that the true purpose of religion is humanity and standing together in times of sorrow.
The Muslim community also appealed to people to join this noble cause. The committee is engaged in distributing ration, clothes, medicines, and other essential supplies to flood-affected families.
Present on the occasion:
Syed Ali (General Secretary, Eidgah Masjid Committee), Imam Abdul Subhan (Eidgah Masjid), Maulana Ashiq Raja (Masjid Basti Baba Khel), Maulana Zakir Rizvi, Rahmat Ali (President), Maulana Saleem (Masjid, Village Taddha), President Raza-e-Mustafa, Maulana Talib (Masjid Vijay Colony), Isha Banarsi (Masjid Bahishti Darwaza), Akbar Ali (President, Ulema Board), Alam Basti Danish Manda, Sakeel Bhai (Pakka Bagh), Badrul Khan, Sikander Sheikh, Balagul Rehman, and others.
