Indian Social Club Salalah Celebrates 77th Republic Day of India with Pride and Unity

The Indian Social Club (ISC), Salalah celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India on 26th Jan 2026 at the premises of Indian Social Club, Salalah with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor, bringing together members of the Indian community, dignitaries, and guests to commemorate India’s constitutional journey and shared democratic values.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Rawas, Head of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, along with Dr. (Hons.) Rakesh Kumar Jha- President of Indian Social Club Salalah, Chairman - Bihar Foundation, Oman Chapter , Vice Chairman - Foreign Investment Committee, OCCI (Dhofar) , Dr. K. Sanathan, Honorable Counselor Agent of the Embassy of India, Muscat, Dr. Syed Ahsan Jameel SMC President and SMC members, Mr. Anita Rose, AVP of Indian School Salalah, Mr. Mohd Rassal - SMC President Thumrait School, , along with ISC Management Committee, Conveors & EC members of Linguistic wings and community members.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. (Hons.) Rakesh Jha highlighted the historic significance of 26 January 1950, the day India adopted its Constitution and chose the path of democracy, justice, and equality.
Dr. Jha highlighted that current celebrations align with the "Viksit Bharat @2047" national vision, focusing on inclusive growth, innovation, and service as India approaches 100 years of independence. Echoing the vision of President Smt. Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the address emphasized collective responsibility, constitutional duties, citizen participation, women's empowerment, and the role of startups in nation-building.
The Indian community in Salalah was acknowledged as custodians of India’s values abroad, contributing positively to society while strengthening the longstanding friendship and economic ties between India and the Sultanate of Oman through discipline, respect for local laws, cultural harmony & business.
Quoting Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi, the speaker urged the community to embrace service, responsibility, and unity, reinforcing the idea that true freedom and progress are meaningful only when inclusive.
The Indian Social Club also reflected on its extensive activities over the past year, including cultural and social programs, consular services, health camps, blood donation drives, first aid and fire safety training, organized by ISC and its various wings and forums. The club now boasts trained first aiders and firefighters to enhance community preparedness.
Upcoming events were announced, including Club Day on 29 January, a cultural event on 31 January, and several sports and regional programs. Members were requested to renew their memberships by 28 January, and individuals from other states were encouraged to form linguistic wings with full support from ISC, in compliance with MoSD and ROP guidelines.
The community was also reminded to adhere strictly to local laws and regulations, avoid prohibited items, refrain from unauthorized postings, respect local culture and traditions, and uphold safe and responsible conduct.
The celebration featured excellent patriotic songs and vibrant cultural performances, which were highly appreciated by the Chief Guest, Mr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Rawas. He commended the Indian Social Club Salalah for its dedicated efforts in organizing the event and extended his appreciation to President Dr. (Hons.) Rakesh Jha, Vice President - Mr. Sunny Jacob, General Secretary- Mr. Ranjith Singh, MC members and the entire organizing team for their commitment to promoting cultural harmony and community spirit. He assured to visit again with his family and friends.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Praveen Kumar, Cultural Secretary, who expressed sincere gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), Royal Oman Police (ROP), and the Municipality for their continued guidance and support. He also thanked the Chief Guest, dignitaries, sponsors, volunteers, members, and participants for their invaluable contributions to the success of the celebration.
Special appreciation was extended to Mr. Josvindar Singh for his dedicated efforts in exploring and strengthening tourism opportunities between the Sultanate of Oman and India, further enhancing bilateral cooperation and people-to-people ties.
