A special ceremony was reportedly held at Gurdwara Sahib Fremont to honor Bibi Surjit Kaur, the mother of Dilawar Singh Babbar, according to community sources. Members of the Gurdwara Management Committee, Panthic organizations and the Sangat were reportedly present at the event.
Dilawar Singh Babbar was a former Punjab Police constable who joined Babbar Khalsa International and carried out the suicide bombing that killed Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh on August 31, 1995, at the Punjab and Haryana Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh.
Surjit Kaur and her husband, Baba Harnek Singh, are reported to reside in Guru Nanak Nagar, Patiala. The couple were previously honored by the Khalsa Action Committee with the Shaheed Baba Deep Singh gold medal at a function in Amritsar.

Gurdwara Sahib Fremont, located at 300 Gurdwara Road, has previously hosted events associated with Khalistan advocacy. In July, the gurdwara reportedly rededicated its building to Khalistan martyrs during a Shaheed Samagam held from July 10 to 13 and organized by the Khalistan Affairs Center and Sikh Youth of America.
The gurdwara also hosts annual Shaheedi Diwas commemorations, including events involving rides between Gurdwara Sahib Fremont and the Tri Valley Sikh Center in Livermore.
