Ban Imposed on Use of Wheat in Feed Mills for 30 Days: Spokesperson, Punjab Home Department

In a major decision to ensure uninterrupted supply of wheat for human consumption, the Government of Punjab has imposed an immediate ban on the use of wheat in all feed mills across the province. Section 144 has been enforced to guarantee the continuous availability of wheat, flour, and bread.

According to the notification issued by the Punjab Home Secretary, wheat shall only be used in flour mills for the production of flour. The spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department stated that the government made this important decision in view of the possible shortage of wheat in the province.

He revealed that feed mills in Punjab had stored 104,184 metric tons of wheat. According to the report by the Secretary Price Control and Commodities Management, feed mills were preparing to use this large quantity of wheat for poultry feed.

The spokesperson added that wheat is a staple food for humans and should be used for flour production rather than poultry feed. The Home Department Punjab has imposed a 30-day ban on the use of wheat in feed mills across the province. The Punjab Home Secretary has imposed this ban under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.

As per the notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, the ban shall remain effective until Friday, October 3. For public awareness, wide publicity of this order has also been directed through the official gazette, newspapers, and media outlets.
