Dr. Humaira Tariq, Secretary General of the Women's Wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, stated that women do not need slogans but their rightful due, emphasizing that the party aims to empower women as the "honor of the home and the strength of society."
She made these remarks during her inaugural address at the women's session, titled Jahan Abad Tum Se Hai (The World is Inhabited Because of You), on the second day of the public gathering. Dr. Tariq said the massive turnout of women at the event is testament to the fact that "the women of Pakistan are now awake."
"Women, in their roles as mothers, sisters, wives, and daughters, are not weak; Islam has honored them in these very roles," she stated. "Yet, today, the same woman is subjected to oppression, domestic violence, and is deprived of her inheritance."
Dr. Tariq further announced that Jamaat-e-Islami is actively striving for the rehabilitation, guidance, and honorable release of women imprisoned across the country.
A Call for System Change and Moral Revival
Samina Saeed, the Nazima-e-Ijtima (Organizer) and Deputy Secretary, addressed the session, highlighting that the Quran has provided complete guidance on what is permissible and forbidden. She cited the scholarly contributions of Hazrat Hafsah (RA) and Hazrat Aisha (RA), and the great women who nurtured scholars like Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (RA), stating that the Quran bears witness to these virtuous women. She urged the attendees to "become beacons of hope and continue the struggle to establish an Islamic system."
Deputy Secretary Afat Sajjad asserted that the gathering was a testimony of hundreds of thousands of women in favor of an Islamic system. "The women of Pakistan want justice, basic rights, and the facilities granted to them by Islam. However, the country's judicial and feudal (wadera-shahi) system is a major obstacle in securing these rights. This is why Pakistani women have gathered under the shadow of Minar-e-Pakistan with the desire to change this system," she said.
Awards and a Declaration for the Future
The atmosphere resonated with passionate slogans led by Dr. Samiha Rahim Qazi. In her address, she said the strong presence of women was proof of their active and determined resolve for a change in the system. "I see your hard work shining like lamps. These awards are a source of pride for all of you. Insha'Allah, this movement will advance and the system of Pakistan will definitely change."
Dr. Zubaida Jabeen presented the conference declaration, stating that the primary reason for injustices against women is the non-implementation of the Quranic system. The recommendations within the declaration included that educational institutions, as part of the system change, will also be responsible for preparing a healthy generation by overseeing children's ethical, psychological, and physical development. She also emphasized providing a healthy environment for mothers and children, training for the positive use of social media, and the establishment of free healthcare.
