A Beacon of Compassion: UNITED SIKHS Holds Interfaith Medical Camp at Nankana Sahib

In a powerful testament to the Sikh principle of Sarbat da Bhala (well-being for all), a free medical camp was successfully organized at the historic Gurudwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. The initiative, spearheaded by UNITED SIKHS Texas with the dedicated support of the Houston Sangat, transcended all boundaries of faith and community to serve those in need.
The camp saw a steady stream of residents from Nankana Sahib and surrounding areas. In a beautiful reflection of unity, patients belonging to Muslim, Sikh, and Christian communities stood side-by-side, receiving care and compassion without any discrimination. Expert physicians diligently examined hundreds of patients, diagnosing ailments and providing crucial consultations.
Beyond diagnosis, the camp ensured continued care by distributing free medicines to the attendees. This holistic approach—from expert consultation to the provision of medication—addressed immediate healthcare gaps for many who lack easy access to medical facilities.

Kam Singh Kahlon of UNITED SIKHS Texas expressed profound gratitude for the international spirit of collaboration that made the project possible. "We are appreciative of our Canada chapter, USA Chapter, and Australia Chapter who regularly support our projects in Pakistan," he stated, highlighting the global Sikh community's commitment to humanitarian service, or Seva, irrespective of geography.
The choice of location added deep symbolic significance to the endeavor. Gurudwara Janam Asthan marks the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, whose teachings fundamentally espouse universal equality, selfless service, and the oneness of humanity. By serving an interfaith population from this sacred site, the camp truly embodied Guru Nanak's eternal message.
"This is the essence of our faith—to see the divine light in all and to serve creation as one," added a volunteer. "Special thanks to UNITED SIKHS and UNITED SIKHS Texas for their regular support in making such Seva possible."
The medical camp at Nankana Sahib stands as a shining example of how faith-based humanitarian efforts can become powerful forces for social good. It demonstrates that the true language of compassion knows no religion, only the shared bond of our common humanity. The event was not just a distribution of medical aid, but a distribution of hope, healing, and harmony.
