UK Crown Court Acquits Three Sikhs, Reaffirms Respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

London, January 28, 2026

In a landmark judgment, a UK Crown Court has delivered a Not Guilty verdict in a case related to the respectful removal and transfer of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, reaffirming the importance of Gurmat Rehat Maryada and the highest standards of Satkar (respect) for Sikhism’s eternal Guru.
The case was initiated following objections raised by a Hindu Mandir after three Sikh individuals removed Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from the premises, citing serious concerns of beadbi (disrespect) and clear violations of Sikh religious protocols. After a seven-day trial, the Crown Court fully acquitted all three accused.
The judgment has been widely described as a historic victory for the Sikh community, as it legally and morally reinforces the responsibility to protect the sanctity and honour of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji under all circumstances.
Throughout the trial, the Sikh Sadh Sangat demonstrated unity and devotion by participating in daily paat, simran, ardas, langar, and seva, reflecting unwavering faith and collective strength. Community leaders acknowledged the blessings of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, Sant Mahapurakhs, and Panthic institutions for guiding the Panth through the legal challenge.
Sikh representatives stated that the verdict is not merely a legal success but a reaffirmation of Sikh values, humility, and steadfast commitment to Gurmat principles. They expressed hope that the decision will foster greater awareness and respect for the sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji worldwide.
