Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has unveiled a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for flood victims across the province, promising swift action, fair compensation, and transparent relief operations.

Chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore, the Chief Minister made several key decisions aimed at addressing the widespread devastation caused by recent floods. She announced that a province-wide rehabilitation operation will be launched immediately, with special flood relief committees established at both district and tehsil levels to supervise the recovery process.

To make the assistance process more accessible, Maryam Nawaz directed the introduction of survey forms, a mobile application, and a monitoring dashboard. She emphasized that the relief mechanism must be simple, transparent, and victim-friendly. The Chief Minister further committed to personally monitoring the progress of aid distribution through the digital dashboard.

According to a detailed report submitted by the Revenue Department, 27 districts, 64 tehsils, and 3,775 villages in Punjab have been affected by the floods. The disaster damaged 63,200 concrete houses and 309,684 mud houses, displacing tens of thousands of families. The survey teams, which will assess the losses and needs of the victims, will include officials from the Urban Unit, Revenue Department, Agriculture Department, and the Pakistan Army, ensuring accuracy and credibility.

As per the Chief Minister’s instructions, her cabinet members are present in the flood-affected areas to supervise relief operations and ensure that government assistance reaches the victims directly.

Highlighting the urgent need for recovery, the Chief Minister ordered the immediate repair and restoration of roads, bridges, and essential infrastructure in the affected regions. She directed concerned departments to speed up the work so that communication and access in flood-hit areas can be restored without delay.

Maryam Nawaz also called for the establishment of more relief camps and distribution points to ensure that aid reaches victims directly and quickly. Stressing the moral responsibility of the government and society, she said:

“The government must reach the flood victims itself. We must extend generous support and ensure that every affected person receives fair compensation. No one should be left out of relief.”

The Chief Minister assured that her government is fully committed to restoring normalcy in the lives of flood victims. “We will compensate every individual’s loss and stand by the people until complete rehabilitation is achieved,” she added.

With this announcement, the Punjab government has set in motion one of its largest post-disaster recovery operations, aiming not only to provide relief but also to rebuild lives and infrastructure in the hardest-hit areas of the province.
