On the occasion of the Foundation Day of the All Pakistan Muslim Students Organization (APMSO) on June 11, Karamat Ali Sheikh, Secretary General of MQM Pakistan Punjab, stated in his issued statement that APMSO is the only student organization in Pakistan which gave shape to a political party.
Beyond a Student Organization – A Movement for Political Awareness
APMSO is not merely a student organization but a movement that has played a vital role in promoting political consciousness, democratic values, and genuine public representation in Pakistan. He said that countless talented youth associated with APMSO's platform have reached local bodies, provincial and national assemblies, as well as various other public forums, and have played their part in laying the foundation for real systemic change in the country.
A Platform for Youth Who Wish to Serve the Nation
Karamat Ali Sheikh said that students across the country must reflect on the fact that if they have a passion to serve their country and nation, then APMSO and MQM Pakistan offer a platform where young people can express their abilities and avail opportunities for public service. He added that this movement has not been limited to mere claims and slogans; rather, it has practically provided leadership opportunities to young people from the middle and lower-middle classes and brought them to the floors of legislative assemblies.
Rejecting Hereditary Politics – Proving Merit-Based Leadership
He stated that political parties engaged in hereditary and family-based politics make claims about promoting youth, but APMSO has brought young people forward in the practical field and proved that leadership can emerge on the basis of ability and hard work. He said that if students across the country unite today and come together on a national development agenda, Pakistan can be set on new paths of progress in economic, educational, and social fields.
An Appeal to the Students of Punjab
The Secretary General of MQM Pakistan Punjab further said that youth are the precious asset of any nation, and the true value of this asset emerges when they are given opportunities to utilize their capabilities and change the destiny of their country and nation. He appealed to students and young people across Punjab to join APMSO and play a full role in the development and prosperity of their villages, cities, province, and country, giving practical shape to the spirit of national service.
