SGPC to Soon Complete Sikh Mission, Press and Other Projects in United States: Advocate Dhami
Sri Amritsar, June 12:, Kanwar Partap Singh / Tajeemnoor Kaur - A high-level delegation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), led by its President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, held a gathering with local Sikh leaders and members of the Punjabi community at the residence of late Didar Singh Bains in Yuba City, USA. The meeting focused on SGPC’s plans and initiatives for Sikh religious propagation activities abroad.
Addressing the gathering, Advocate Dhami said that the Sikh community living overseas has achieved remarkable success through hard work and has made significant contributions to the development of their adopted countries. He added that the efforts made by Sikhs abroad to preserve and promote their heritage are highly commendable.
Advocate Dhami said that while SGPC has established Sikh Missions in various states across India to promote Sikh teachings, it is also working to connect Sikhs living abroad—especially the younger generation—with Gurmat (Guru’s wisdom), Sikh history, and their heritage. To achieve this objective, a Sikh Centre is being established in Yuba City, California.
He noted that late Didar Singh Bains had donated 14.5 acres of land to SGPC for the project. Necessary approvals have already been obtained for setting up a Sikh Mission, printing press, and Gurmat school at the site. Architectural plans are currently being prepared, and with the support of the Sikh sangat, work on the project will begin soon. He emphasized that the initiative will be completed on a priority basis.
Advocate Dhami further stated that as the representative body of Sikhs, SGPC is committed to strengthening its relationship with Sikh communities worldwide. The proposed Sikh Mission in the United States will not only promote Sikh teachings but will also serve as a strong bridge between local Sikh congregations and SGPC. He expressed hope for continued cooperation from the local Sikh community.
Local Sikh leaders appreciated the religious, Panthic, and welfare activities being undertaken by SGPC under the leadership of Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and assured the organization of their full support.
