Australian Sikh Community Welcomes Punjab Minister in Sydney

Punjab minister engages Australian Sikh community, reaffirms commitment to preserving Sikh heritage and promoting interfaith harmony

 Pakistan Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora visited Glenwood Gurdwara Sahib and the Sikh Museum in Sydney, Australia, where he received a warm welcome from members of the Sikh community, who appreciated the Punjab government's initiatives for the welfare of minorities and the preservation of Sikh religious heritage.
During the visit, the management of Glenwood Gurdwara Sahib presented the minister with an honorary Siropa. Mr Arora also recorded his remarks in the gurdwara's visitors' book. He held discussions with members of the Australian Sikh community on promoting religious, cultural and people-to-people ties.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Arora said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial government was committed to strengthening its engagement with the global Sikh community. He said the government had undertaken landmark initiatives for the restoration and conservation of gurdwaras, the promotion of religious tourism, and the provision of international-standard facilities at Kartarpur Corridor, Nankana Sahib, Gurdwara Janam Asthan and other sacred Sikh sites.
The minister said that protecting minority places of worship and promoting interfaith harmony remained central to the Punjab government's vision. He added that practical measures were being taken to ensure safe, dignified and convenient pilgrimage facilities for Sikh devotees, adding that Punjab was emerging as a model of peace, religious tolerance and interfaith harmony.
