Baba Gorpal Singh, a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly representing Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), held a meeting with Secretary of the Law Department Akhtar Saeed Turk to discuss the implementation and legal framework of the Hindu and Christian Marriage Acts.

During the meeting, it was highlighted that the Kalash Marriage Bill had previously been submitted by the Law Department to the Legislation Committee, which recently approved it and forwarded it to the Cabinet. Baba Gorpal Singh expressed his gratitude for this progress.

The minority MPA emphasized the need to form a joint legislative committee comprising Hindu, Christian, and other minority assembly members to expedite work on the Hindu and Christian Marriage Acts. He stressed that these laws aim to grant legal recognition to marriages of Hindu and Christian citizens and ensure that marriage records are securely maintained at both the tehsil and district levels.

Baba Gorpal Singh’s meeting reflects continued efforts by minority representatives to safeguard the legal rights and social recognition of religious minorities in Pakistan.
