LAHORE, November 2 (Nazrana Times): Guests from India arrived in Lahore on Monday to participate in Aitchison College’s 140th anniversary celebrations. The anniversary falls on November 3, marking the laying of the college’s foundation stone in 1886.
The delegation includes relatives of former students, known as Old Boys, who attended the college in undivided Punjab before the Partition of 1947.

Classroom to Honour Harcharan Singh Brar
Kanwaljit “Babli” Kaur Brar, who travelled from Chandigarh, will unveil a classroom named after her father, Harcharan Singh Brar. The initiative honours his friendship with Syed Babar Ali.
Visit Follows February’s Founders’ Day Celebrations
The college held three-day Founders’ Day celebrations from February 13 to 15, inviting all 15 living Old Boys in India, most of whom were in their nineties.
Where former students were unable to travel, their children and grandchildren attended instead.
Keertan Held at Historic Gurdwara
During the February celebrations, a keertan was held at the college’s historic gurdwara for the first time in nearly 80 years. All four doors were opened to people of every faith.
Punjab Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora and college Principal Dr S.M. Turab Hussain attended the occasion.

Commemorative Shawl from Patiala
Yadavindra Public School in Patiala, which maintains ties with Aitchison College, marked the anniversary on its own campus earlier this year. It also sent a commemorative shawl for the Lahore celebrations.
A People-Centred Initiative
Organisers said the initiative focused on connections between people and did not represent any government.
“This is a platform for ordinary people of India and Pakistan,” a representative said.
