SGPC Delegation Inspects Site for Upcoming Projects in Yuba City

Gurmat Centre Being Established Will Help Connect Sikh Children with Gurmat Principles and Sikh Traditions: Advocate Dhami

Amritsar, June 11: Kanwar Partap Singh/ Tajeemnoor Kaur - A delegation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) led by its President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami visited the United States and inspected the land earmarked in Yuba City, California, for the establishment of a religious preaching centre, printing press, Sikh Mission, and Gurmat (Guru’s wisdom) school. The delegation also held discussions with architects and local Sikh leaders regarding the development of the proposed projects.

Notably, the nearly 14-acre land has been donated to the SGPC by the late S. Didar Singh Bains and his family. The SGPC delegation included senior vice-president Raghujit Singh Virk, chief secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan, member Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, OSD Satbir Singh, and secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan.

In a press statement issued from the SGPC office, Advocate Dhami said that keeping in view the sentiments of the Sikh community in the United States and Canada, the SGPC had earlier decided to establish a religious preaching centre, press, Sikh Mission, and Gurmat school in the United States. He noted that 14.5 acres of land for this purpose had been donated by the late S. Didar Singh Bains.

Advocate Dhami said that a large number of requests for birs (scriptures) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib are regularly received from Sikhs in the United States and Canada. The establishment of a printing press at the site would enable the SGPC to meet this demand more effectively.

He further stated that the proposed centre, aimed at promoting Sikh teachings, would not only strengthen cooperation between the Sikh diaspora and Sikh institutions but would also help connect Sikh children living abroad with Gurmat principles and Sikh traditions. He added that the project would be completed at the earliest with the cooperation of local Sikh leaders and the Sikh community.

Among those present on the occasion were Karamdeep Singh Bains, Hargurjit Singh Bal, Dalbir Singh Gill, Paramjit Singh Gill, Gurmeet Singh Gill, Gurnam Singh Pamma, Kulwant Singh Khaira, Baljit Singh Mann, Jeevan Singh, Gursewak Singh Bhangoo, Sukhwant Singh Khaira, Sukhwinder Singh, Nirmal Singh Janda, Mukhtiar Singh Grewal, Gurpreet Singh Gill, Inderjit Singh Happy, Dalbir Singh Sanghera, Joginder Singh Nijjar, and others.
