Two Sikh Worshippers Injured in Edmonton Gurdwara Stabbing

Two Sikh priests were reportedly stabbed during an attack on Friday morning, August 21, 2026, inside the Nanaksar Gurdwara Gursikh Temple in Edmonton. According to preliminary reports, attack also involved the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (Sikh scripture).
Police have not yet officially confirmed a motive, charges, or details on the victims' conditions.
As per reports, approximately 5 a.m. an intruder entered the Gurdwara and attacked individuals inside. 
Police are currently on scene and the Gurdwara has been closed to the public while the investigation continues.
Yesterday, Calgary police confirmed they were investigating threatening calls made to two Sikh gurdwaras in northeast Calgary, including threats directed at the Dashmesh Culture Centre.
