Silver for Pakistan in Squash as Men’s Team Reaches Asian Games Final

Pakistan secured the silver medal in the Men’s Team Squash competition at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 after reaching the gold-medal final and putting together a strong campaign.
Pakistan faced Malaysia in the final at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena, where Malaysia won the gold medal with a 2–0 victory. Despite the final defeat, Pakistan finished the competition with a silver medal.
In the opening match, Nasir Iqbal faced Malaysia’s Ameeshenraj Chandaran. Nasir won the first game 11–8, but Chandaran responded by winning the next three games 11–3, 11–6 and 11–4 to secure a 3–1 victory after 41 minutes.
Pakistan then needed a win in the second match to keep its gold-medal hopes alive. Noor Zaman took on Malaysia’s Ng Eain Yow in another closely contested encounter.
Ng won the opening game 11–8, but Noor fought back to take the next two games 11–6 and 11–7. Ng then recovered to win the fourth game 11–4 and the deciding fifth game 11–5, giving Malaysia the second required victory.
With Malaysia securing two wins, the third scheduled match was not required.
Pakistan’s Road to the Final
Pakistan booked its place in the final after defeating Hong Kong, China 2–1 in the semi-final.
Noor Zaman lost the opening match 3–1, but Muhammad Ashab Irfan levelled the tie with a 3–0 victory. Nasir Iqbal then delivered the decisive performance, defeating his opponent 3–1 in a 53-minute contest to send Pakistan into the final.
Pakistan had earlier defeated South Korea in the quarter-final.
Three Squash Medals for Pakistan
Pakistan finished the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games squash competition with three medals — one silver and two bronze.
The two bronze medals came in the men’s individual competition, while the men’s team earned silver after reaching the final.
The result adds another medal to Pakistan’s Asian Games squash campaign and marks another appearance by the national team in the medal rounds.
