Mansa/Chandigarh, October 21, 2026 (Nazrana Times): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a fresh First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the Parvinder Singh Jhota case, invoking charges of murder, attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons and criminal conspiracy.

According to information made available, the FIR names Ashwani Kumar and others as accused. The case has reportedly been registered on the basis of a statement given by Bhim Singh, father of Parvinder Singh Jhota.

The FIR cites Sections 103(1), 109, 118(1), 61(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

CBI Team Arrives in Mansa to Begin Investigation

A CBI investigation team has reached Mansa to examine the circumstances surrounding the case. Punjab Police has reportedly handed over relevant case files, investigation records, evidence and forensic material collected during its earlier investigation.

The central agency is expected to scrutinize witness statements, forensic findings and other evidence to establish the sequence of events and determine the alleged involvement of those named in the FIR.

Investigators may also question the accused and other individuals connected with the case. However, no official confirmation has yet been received regarding any fresh arrests or remand proceedings.

Investigation Transferred Following Family’s Demand

The decision to transfer the investigation to the CBI followed demands raised by Parvinder Singh Jhota’s family for an independent investigation.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had announced the decision to hand over the case to the central agency ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Mansa.

During his meeting with the family, Shah assured them that the CBI would take up the investigation.

Further Developments Awaited

With the registration of the fresh FIR, the CBI has formally initiated its investigation into the case.

The agency is now expected to examine the evidence collected by Punjab Police, record additional statements where necessary and pursue further investigative proceedings.

Further official details are awaited as the investigation progresses.

The allegations against those named in the FIR remain subject to investigation and judicial determination.
