Nanaksar Jagraon’s Baba Lakha Singh Admits Meeting Punjab CM Was a Mistake, Submits Explanation to Akal Takht
Baba Lakha Singh says he did not praise Punjab government’s anti-sacrilege law; government issued statement in his name on its own
Sri Amritsar, October 3: Kanwar Partap Singh / Tajeemnoor Kaur—Amid the ongoing matter concerning the objections raised by Sri Akal Takht Sahib over the Punjab government’s recently passed “Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026”, Baba Lakha Singh of Nanaksar Kaleran, Jagraon, Ludhiana, submitted his explanation and clarification to Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj at the Secretariat Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding his meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh, who has been declared “Guru Dhokhi and Khalsa Panth Virodhi” by Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
In his explanation, Baba Lakha Singh admitted that, in view of the order issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib concerning Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh, he should not have met him and termed it his mistake.
He said the meeting was related to administrative matters concerning a hospital being run by the Nanaksar samprada. He said government officials had expressed their inability to resolve certain issues and advised him to seek directions from the Chief Minister, due to which he had to meet him.
Baba Lakha Singh said he has always remained dedicated to Sri Akal Takht Sahib and respectfully accepts and submits to every order issued by the Takht Sahib.
Baba Lakha Singh also clarified that he had not praised the anti-sacrilege law enacted by the Punjab government. He said reports published in the media claiming that he had praised the law were incorrect, and that no such statement had been issued by him. He alleged that the Punjab government had issued such statement on his behalf at its own level.
Giving details, Bagicha Singh, in-charge of the Secretariat Sri Akal Takht Sahib, said Baba Lakha Singh’s explanation and expression of remorse had been received by the Jathedar. The matter would be placed before a meeting of the five Singh Sahiban for consideration and a decision.
