Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid tribute to the martyrs, veterans and serving personnel of Pakistan’s armed forces on Defence Day, saying the nation would never forget those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s defence, sovereignty and dignity.
According to a press release issued by the Media Cell Bilawal House, Bilawal described Defence Day as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made for Pakistan. He also paid tribute to the families of martyrs, including their parents, spouses, children and other loved ones, for bearing their losses with courage and dignity.
Bilawal said Pakistan’s armed forces had continued to defend the country against threats, including terrorism, with courage and determination. He said the nation stood with the armed forces in safeguarding Pakistan’s peace, stability and sovereignty.
He stressed that Pakistan’s defence depended not only on military strength but also on national unity, democracy, constitutional supremacy and social justice. He said the country’s people were its greatest strength and that a nation united around democracy, equality and justice could not be defeated.
Bilawal also recalled the political legacy of former prime ministers Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, saying their leadership contributed to Pakistan’s nuclear and missile capabilities despite international pressure.
He reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to a strong, sovereign, democratic and peaceful Pakistan, saying the best tribute to the martyrs was to build a country where democracy flourishes, justice prevails and citizens can live with dignity and hope.
