A vibrant Holi celebration was organized by the Sindh Students Collective at Punjab University, where Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora attended as the chief guest. This marks the first time a provincial minister has participated in a Holi event on the university campus.
Addressing the ceremony, Ramesh Singh Arora stated that the event reflects the minority-friendly vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. He emphasized that interfaith harmony is being actively promoted across Punjab, ensuring equal opportunities for people of all faiths.
He further highlighted that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, minority festivals are being celebrated at the official level for the first time in history. “Christmas was celebrated over 14 days, while Vaisakhi festivities continued for 9 days at the provincial level,” he added.
The Minister also noted that Pakistan hosted over 6,000 Sikh pilgrims during Vaisakhi this year, showcasing to the world a peaceful, secure, and inclusive image of the country.
He said that his participation in the Holi event aimed to encourage minority students and express solidarity with them.
A large number of Hindu, Muslim, Christian, and Sikh students participated in the event. Chairperson Film and Broadcasting Department, Dr. Lubna Zaheer, was also present on the occasion.
Currently, around 100 Hindu and Sikh students are enrolled at Punjab University, while several hundred minority students are pursuing education on campus.
The event highlighted the positive image of a peaceful, diverse, and inclusive Punjab.
