The people of Pakistan have once again shown unity, courage, and a strong spirit of service in difficult times. Citizens are coming forward to help flood victims with passion and dedication.
The online registration portal of the Punjab Home Department has received an overwhelming response. In just a few days, more than 10,700 people have registered as Civil Defence volunteers. Both men and women, belonging to different professions and educational backgrounds, are taking part in this national effort. Faisalabad is leading in registrations, followed by Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi.
Punjab Home Secretary, Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi, welcomed the citizens who registered as volunteers. He said that Civil Defence volunteers play an important role in assisting people during emergencies. He praised the large number of young people coming forward with the spirit of service and sacrifice.
Under the leadership of the Chief Minister Punjab, relief and rehabilitation work for flood victims is continuing day and night. So far, hundreds of thousands of victims, along with their belongings and livestock, have been shifted to safe places. Civil Defence teams have also been providing food, medicines, and safe shelters to the affected families.
Dr. Qazi further said that all government departments are actively working in the field for the relief of flood victims, while citizens are also contributing as volunteers according to their skills. He announced that special certificates of appreciation will be given to those who serve as volunteers.
The registration portal for Civil Defence volunteers is still open at VCD.HOME.GOP.PK, and district authorities are contacting registered citizens to assign them duties based on their abilities.
