KP governor pledges efforts to resume work at Gurdwara Bhai Biba Singh Sahib in Peshawar

PESHAWAR (Nazrana Times): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said efforts would be made to resume stalled construction and restoration work at the historic Gurdwara Bhai Biba Singh Sahib in Cheeka Gali as soon as possible. He gave the assurance during a meeting with Gurpal Amol Singh, a member of the provincial assembly and a leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI).

Singh told the governor that the provincial government had approved Rs200 million for the gurdwara project. He said work had stopped after the imposition of Governor’s Rule and subsequent emergency measures. Expressing concern over the delay, he urged authorities to resume work promptly to preserve the historic Sikh religious site.

Minority job quota, scholarships and laptop scheme discussed

The meeting also covered development projects for minority communities, the provincial government’s laptop scheme for minority students and implementation of the minority employment quota in government departments. Other issues discussed included scholarships for eligible students, financial assistance for people in need and measures to protect Sikh places of worship and historic sites.

Kundi said steps would be taken to address the concerns raised during the meeting. He said Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees the fundamental rights of religious minorities and that the state is responsible for protecting every citizen’s life and property, ensuring religious freedom and providing equal opportunities in education and development. He reaffirmed his commitment to the protection and welfare of all communities across the province.

Singh thanked the governor and expressed hope that work at the gurdwara would resume soon and that the longstanding concerns of minority communities would be addressed as a priority. No date was announced for work to restart.
