Global Faiths and Cultural Dialogue Take Center Stage at Lahore Conferences

A series of interfaith and cultural exchange events in Lahore this week brought the scholars, diplomats, and writers together from across the world in the conference on World Religions organised by Minhaj University Lahore. The findings of the research papers revolve around the lesson of humanity, peace, tranquility and dialogue emphasizing the city’s growing role as a hub for global intellectual dialogue.
At the Conference on World Religions hosted by Minhaj University Lahore, distinguished speakers and guests from 14 countries discussed harmony among world faiths and the role of academia in promoting peace. During the event, Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman of Minhaj University, and Suhail Raza presented a commemorative shield to the scholars in recognition of their contributions to interreligious understanding. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri presented shields to Dr Akhtar Hussain Sandhu (Historian & Columnist), Brig. Akhtar Nawaz, Dean Dr. Alquma, Dr. Raja Adnan, Dr. Ashok Kumar Khatri, and others reflecting the diversity and depth of Pakistan’s academic and professional community.
Continuing the spirit of dialogue, another session was held at the Department of Persian, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), where Dean Prof Dr Faleeha Zahra Kazmi and scholars engaged in a discussion on literature, Maharaja Ranjit Singh,(Sher-i-Punjab), importance of Persian language for Indian and Punjab history, identity, and cultural pluralism. International guests Shingara Singh Mann from France and Gurcharan Singh Banwait from Canada talked on different chapters of the Sikh history. The guests received the book “Canada: Rangon Ka Dais” authored by Dr Akhtar Hussain Sandhu from Prof. Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, Dean at LCWU & ex-Vice Chancellor, along with Akhtar Sandhu and Dr. Farzana Riaz of Government College University (GCU).
The PhD scholars introduced their topics and progress in the research.
The event concluded with a note of gratitude to Banwait and Mr. Mann for their insightful exchange at the Department of Persian, highlighting the importance of literary dialogue in strengthening global understanding.
Both gatherings underscored Lahore’s enduring role as a bridge between cultures—where faith, literature, and scholarship continue to intersect in the pursuit of peace and knowledge.
