Pakistan-Punjab Home Secretary Hosts Bangladeshi Officers Delegation at Punjab Science Enclave

Officers Praises Pakistan’s Tech Progress

A 20-member delegation of senior officers from Bangladesh visited the Punjab Science Enclave and met with Punjab Home Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi. The delegation was given a tour of the state-of-the-art laboratories established at the Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA) and the Punjab Forensic Science Authority (PFSA). Director General Civil Services Academy, Farhan Aziz Khawaja, also accompanied the delegation. The Bangladeshi officers are currently undergoing advanced training in Pakistan. The delegation included senior officials serving at the level of Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary. During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on the major initiatives undertaken by the Government of Punjab at the Punjab Science Enclave. Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Home Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi said that Pakistan and Bangladesh are connected through a timeless relationship of mutual love and respect. He stated that some of Pakistan’s top scientists are serving at the Punjab Science Enclave. He further shared that the premier forensic laboratory is not only assisting Punjab but also supporting other provinces. He added that Crime Scene Investigation Services under the forensic laboratory are being expanded across the province. Dr. Qazi also highlighted that wide-ranging prison reforms are being introduced in Punjab to transform jails into correctional centers. With the strong cooperation of the judiciary, efforts are being made to make the criminal justice system more transparent and effective, he added. He noted that the modern criminal justice system would help complete investigation processes more swiftly and transparently. Head of the Bangladeshi delegation, Salma Siddiqua Mehtab, praised Pakistan’s hospitality, calling it memorable and commendable. She said the delegation was highly impressed by Pakistan’s rapid technological advancement. She remarked that the modern infrastructure of the Punjab Science Enclave serves as a model for South Asia. She further stated that Bangladesh would, in the future, send vaccines and other samples to Punjab for testing and analysis. The delegation head also expressed hope that following the successful visit, cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh in various sectors would be further strengthened. The Director General Civil Services Academy, Farhan Aziz Khawaja, said that the Punjab Forensic Science Authority and PAFDA are state-of-the-art institutions that are becoming a source of pride for both Punjab and Pakistan. Special Secretary Home Zainab Khan, DG Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha, DG Punjab Forensic Science Authority Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Additional Secretary Police Kanwar Anwar Ali Khan, and other relevant officials were also present on the occasion. At the conclusion of the briefing and visit, honorary shields were presented to the members of the Bangladeshi delegation.
