A ceremony to inaugurate key heritage conservation projects was held at Lahore Fort under the auspices of the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), where Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora formally inaugurated the restoration of the Loh Temple, Sikh-era Hammam, and the Athdara Pavilion.
The ceremony was attended by national and international dignitaries, diplomatic representatives, cultural experts, and members of various faith communities. Ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held at the Sikh-era Hammam and Athdara Pavilion, followed by guided tours of the restored heritage sites.
Addressing the gathering, Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora stated that Lahore has always been a shared civilisational space for people of different faiths and cultures. He emphasized that the Loh Temple, the Sikh-era Hammam, and the Athdara Pavilion stand as powerful symbols of Punjab’s pluralistic heritage and historical continuity.

The Provincial Minister appreciated the financial support provided by the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP), calling it a strong expression of international trust in Pakistan’s cultural heritage. He also commended the Aga Khan Cultural Service – Pakistan (AKCS-P) and the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) for their professional expertise and sensitive conservation work.
He reaffirmed the Government of Punjab’s strong commitment to the protection of minority and interfaith heritage, stating that the preservation of sacred and historic sites of minority communities remains a top priority. He further noted that promoting religious tourism will strengthen interfaith harmony, enhance people-to-people connections, and contribute to local economic development.
Concluding his remarks, Ramesh Singh Arora reiterated that the Government of Punjab, in collaboration with national and international partners, will continue to support heritage conservation initiatives to ensure that these historic landmarks serve not only as reminders of the past but also as bridges of unity, tolerance, and coexistence for future generations.
