Baba Guru Nanak University admissions rise from 1,600 to 4,000 in two years, says Rana Sikandar Hayat

Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has said that rising enrollment at public universities reflects improving educational standards and growing confidence among students.
The minister made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the Syndicate of Baba Guru Nanak University, where he received a briefing on the institution’s enrollment growth over the past two years.
According to the briefing, the university’s enrollment increased significantly between 2024 and 2026, rising from approximately 1,600 students in 2024 to 4,000 in 2026.
During the current academic session, the university admitted 1,530 students, of whom 31 per cent are male and 69 per cent are female, officials informed the minister.
Rana Sikandar Hayat praised the vice chancellor and the university’s entire team for achieving enrollment growth of up to 200 per cent over the past two years. He said the improvement in the quality of public universities was helping strengthen students’ confidence in these institutions.
The education minister also assured the university administration that transport facilities would be expanded before the next Syndicate meeting.
