Punjab Home Department Issues List of Proscribed Organisations, Warns Public Against Donations to Banned and Unregistered Charities
Following directives from the federal government, the Punjab Home Department has released an updated list of proscribed organisations and unregistered charitable institutions operating in the province.
According to a spokesperson for the department, providing any form of assistance to banned organisations is a punishable offence under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997. Citizens have been strongly advised not to donate Zakat, charity, or any other financial contributions to unregistered or proscribed organisations.
The spokesperson warned that individuals found supporting organisations involved in terrorism or anti-state activities will face strict legal action. In Punjab, it is mandatory for all charitable organisations to be registered with the Punjab Charity Commission.
The public has been urged to ensure that their Zakat, charity, and donations are given only to institutions registered with the Punjab Charity Commission. Verification of registered organisations can be made through the QR code printed on their official registration certificates.
