Independence Day Ceremony Held at Pakistan Monument

ISLAMABAD, August 14 ALI IMRAN CHATTHA 

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif led the nation in celebrating Independence Day by hoisting the national flag at the Pakistan Monument and laying a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial.

The central ceremony, held on Thursday, was attended by top government officials, parliamentarians, and a large number of children dressed in traditional attire. Sirens marked the moment of flag hoisting, followed by the playing of the national anthem.

The Prime Minister offered fateha at the Martyrs’ Memorial, paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the motherland, and prayed for Pakistan’s security and prosperity.

Dignitaries in attendance included Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, and several federal ministers, including Rana Tanveer Hussain, Attaullah Tarar, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, and Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.
