In a landmark operation, the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) has dealt a severe blow to the drug mafia, arresting two individuals including a serving police constable and seizing narcotics worth approximately Rs. 70 million (7 crore).
The intelligence-based operation was conducted near Raiwind Chowk, Kasur, where CNF officials intercepted two vehicles expertly concealed with a substantial quantity of illicit substances.
The Arrests and Seizure
The arrested suspects have been identified as Police Constable Muhammad Zaman, who was serving in the Punjab Police, and veterinarian Dr. Aqib Raza, an alleged drug smuggler. According to CNF officials, the two were operating as part of a sophisticated network aimed at transporting narcotics from Multan to educational institutions in Lahore and Kasur.
Recovered from the vehicles were a staggering 314.7 kilograms of narcotics, comprising:
· 93 kilograms of opium
· 221.7 kilograms of hashish (charas)

Front Man Operation
In a concerning revelation, the CNF disclosed that the arrested police constable was functioning as a "front man" to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted delivery of drugs. The accused had concealed the narcotics with exceptional skill within the two vehicles to evade detection.
Official Statements
Reaffirming the government's commitment to a drug-free Punjab, a CNF spokesperson stated:
"Under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's vision of a 'Drug-Free Punjab,' we are conducting indiscriminate operations against all elements involved in the narcotics trade. Drug peddling is a heinous crime that is destroying generations."
The Director General of the Counter Narcotics Force Punjab further emphasized the relentless efforts of the department:
"The CNF will continue its operations with full force. No leniency will be shown to drug traffickers. This operation is a testament to our resolve to rid society of this menace."
Investigations Underway
Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to trace the broader network behind this smuggling attempt and to determine the extent of the police constable's involvement in facilitating the trade.
