Kartarpur Corridor Cited as Global Example of Religious Harmony

Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, held an important meeting with Australian High Commissioner Mr. Timothy Kane to discuss minority welfare, religious freedom, and the promotion of interfaith harmony.
Political Secretary Mr. Jordan Hartas also accompanied the High Commissioner.
During the meeting, Minister Arora briefed the delegation on the minority-friendly initiatives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. He emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring equal rights, protection, and economic empowerment of minority communities.
He highlighted that Business Incubation Centers are being established to create economic opportunities for minority youth, while over 7,000 minority students have already been trained in IT and AI under the e-learning program.

The Minister further shared that, for the first time, Christmas celebrations were officially observed across Punjab for 14 days. He termed the Kartarpur Corridor and facilities for Sikh pilgrims as a global example of religious harmony. During Vaisakhi this year, more than 6,000 Sikh pilgrims were facilitated with excellent arrangements for accommodation, security, and services.
He also informed that a high-level committee has been formed to propose reforms in the Christian Marriage Act, focusing on preventing forced marriages and forced conversions.
Australian High Commissioner Mr. Timothy Kane appreciated the leadership of Minister Ramesh Singh Arora and commended the minority-focused initiatives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. He expressed keen interest in Punjab’s inclusive programs and acknowledged the province’s efforts in preserving religious heritage and promoting interfaith harmony at a global level.
