S. Wadala demands CBI probe into S. Parvinder Singh's murder case to uncover the full conspiracy

Organization submits memoranda at district headquarters under the leadership of district presidents.

Chandigarh – October 14 , Mangat Singh Saidpur , S. Gurpratap Singh Wadala, General Secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar-Surjit), has demanded a CBI investigation into the murder of S. Parvinder Singh Jhota so that the entire conspiracy can be exposed. This demand stems from the fact that the assailant was speaking on the phone before firing the shot, raising suspicions that someone on the call may have instructed him to open fire. S. Wadala stated that, acting on the directives of Party President Giani Harpreet Singh, Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar-Surjit)

submitted a memorandum today—addressed to both the Punjab and Central governments—through Deputy Commissioners, demanding immediate action on these issues. This memorandum was submitted by all the district units of the organization under the leadership of their respective district presidents. Apart from the demand regarding the investigation into the murder case of S. Parvinder Singh, the remaining demands pertain to the agricultural sector. The economic stability of the three key pillars of Punjab's marketing system—farmers, commission agents (*arhtiyas*), and rice sheller owners—is facing devastating attacks aimed at destroying this structure and handing the market over to corporate houses. This letter outlines critical demands necessary to safeguard this system; the details are as follows:

1. A special assessment (*girdawari*) should be conducted to evaluate the damage caused by rain and hailstorms to standing crops and paddy stocks lying in the *mandis* (markets) across Punjab, and full compensation should be provided immediately.

2. To facilitate the procurement of the farmers' entire paddy produce, relaxations regarding moisture content and discolored grains should be granted under the URS (Under Relaxed Specifications) norms. 3. Punjab's rice shelling industry should be granted a milling bonus of ₹30 per quintal, on the lines of Haryana. They should also be given relaxation regarding yield norms.

3. Most importantly, storage capacity in Punjab needs to be increased; last year, rice millers in the state had to find storage space in UP, Haryana, and Jammu.

4. The allowance for broken grains in hybrid varieties—which the Central Government reduced from 25% to 10%—should be immediately restored to 25%.

5. Last year, the paddy procurement limit was 190 lakh metric tonnes, but this has been reduced to 180 lakh metric tonnes for the current season. However, the crop yield is expected to exceed 200 lakh metric tonnes. Therefore, instead of reducing the procurement limit, it should be raised beyond 200 lakh metric tonnes. S. Wadala stated that all the aforementioned demands are crucial and legitimate; fulfilling them would not only benefit farmers, commission agents, and rice sheller owners but also yield significant advantages for the state's overall economy.

He further remarked that it is not just law and order in Punjab that has collapsed; the state has also been pushed to the brink of financial bankruptcy. He observed that people elect a government to ensure their safety and prosperity, but if their lives, property, and businesses remain insecure, there is little point in electing such a government. S. Wadala urged the government to immediately address these demands so that the public does not have to regret their electoral choice.
